Michela is going through a stage where she resists washing her hair. (She has beautiful long, blong hair.) She's fine with showering, it's the wet hair she has a problem with. She doesn't like to wash it at night b/c she doesn't like to go to bed with it wet. But she doesn't like to wash it in the morning b/c she doesn't like to put her clothes for school on over wet hair. But she doesn't want to wash it in the afternoon b/c she's too busy with activities, homework, free time or whatever. So the result is that I have to nag her every couple of days to wash her hair.So she washed it monday morning and it went in her bun for ballet. Tues we left the bun in because I do such incredible awesome buns that they can last for two days. Wednesday the bun came out, but it was fine in a pony tail that day, I just brushed it out. (she still *showered* these days, just didn't wash her hair.)Thursday I told her she needed to wash her hair. She said she'd do it thurs night after baseball so I said ok. But then, thurs night they had lots of HW and it got late and she didn't want to go to bed with wet hair so she talked me into letting her wait until friday morning.Ok, friday morning we were all up early b/c I made pancakes for Harrison before zero period PE, so Jacob and Michela ate bfast before geetting ready, which is unusual around here. She was reading and lollygagging around and I kept reminding her to go up and shower b/c time was passing. Finally she went up and I heard her brushing teeth and getting ready, but I didn't hear the shower water. I called up to her and said "get in the shower" and she said ok and then finally I heard the water.so she comes down fully dressed a few minutes later saying that she was all showered and could I brush her hair. When I started, I noticed that her hair was only damp, not totally wet and only on the top, not on the underneath hair. The underneath hair was dry as it could be and very tangled from the day before. When I questioned her she initially said she showered and must not have "rinsed well," but then, fortunately she's a bad liar, she came clean and said she didn't shower, she only WET HER HAIR WITH A WASHCLOTH thinking I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. What? Was I born yesterday?By this time we were on the verge of running late, but I was livid -- partly about the not washing her hair, but mostly b/c she lied about it. I refused to leave for school until she showered and washed her hair properly, which made us 15 minutes late. Then I made her go in and apologize to Harrison and Jacob's teahcers for making them late. She also lost tv and video game privileges for that afternoon and evening for the lying part, which was a big deal b/c it was friday night!
So, as we're driving to school, I say to her, "I can't believe this from you, Michela, you're the *easy* one (which she is!)" and she said "not anymore. I guess those days are gone forever. "
AAAHHH!
