Here is some video from the first swim meet of the season, which was a week ago Saturday. Our kids have been doing swim team for years - each of them since Kindergarten. It's great fun and has really helped them become excellent swimmers. They enjoy the meets because of the competition of the races and the social element of hanging out, cheering for your teammates, eating from the snack bar, and all that. We missed the meet this past weekend because of the dance shows and we'll be gone for the next two. But we'll resume meets in mid July.
Jacob and Michela step up to the diving blocks. They are the last two on the end. Just by chance, they happened to be next to each other. That doesn't usually happen. If you notice, he hit the water first, but she pulled ahead.
Michela comes back, quite a bit ahead of Jacob... they ended up first and second in their heat.
