Wumps

Ok, here's a random topic that should hopefully produce some comments because I'm asking you a question!

Michela asked me - mom, how many wumps do you do? Wumps? Well, I had to think about this before I answered because I didn't want to appear dumb or uncool, like I didn't know what a wump was. I was also afraid that it had a hidden meaning and my almost ten year old was asking something about our sex life or something. It sounded more like exercise, though. wumps. pushups? sit ups?

Then she increased my confusion when she added... "I usually do 19 or 20 wumps, but I got as high as 24. You're higher, right?"

Ok, I give up. "What is a wump?" I asked her. She said "you know - when you type. How many wumps do you type?" I said "do you mean wumps as in w.p.m. (spelling out the letters.) She said "of course that's what I mean." I laughed, then explained that wpm is words per minute, not wumps.

I couldn't answer her. "I type fast," I said. But, how many wpm's is it? So we got out the SpongeBob type to learn CD and we all took the tests. She's right, she's at about 23-25 wpm. Not bad. She's passed all 25 levels. Poor Jacob, who hasn't chosen to practice typing during his free time at home and school like Michela, is on level 4 and types about 5 wpm. we decided together that he had better spend some time on this the next week or so before they go back to school!

Ok, so I took the tests. You have to start at level 1. I advanced from level 1 to passing all 25 levels in about 15 or 20 minutes and my wpm average was about 85, but I did hit a high of ... drumroll please... 119 wpm on one quiz. Woo hoo.
