I just wanted to wish a very happy Birthday this month to three special people -- my mom, Shirley, turned 84 on Aug. 16th, my grandmother-in-law, Loyce (we all call her Meme), turned 92 last week, and.... drumroll please... my father in law, Bernie, turns the big 7 -- 0 -- today! (Today is also my nephew Daniel's 2nd bday, so happy bday to Daniel too.)
Unfortunately we didn't see Meme on her birthday, but we thought about her a lot.
For my mom's bday, we all went to dinner at her place (the family and some of her friends), I took a cake, and we celebrated there. They also had a luau at her place this past weekend and they wished her a happy bday at that.
My father in law is actually here in California on business this week, so we were able to see him a couple of nights ago to celebrate his birthday. For his gift, I gave him a goodie bag of treats to enjoy at his hotel (fresh fruit, nuts, low cal cookies, etc.) which he appreciated because the restaurant there shuts down for lunch (huh? why shut down for lunch!) and he doesn't have anyplace to grab a quick bite to eat, and then we gave him seventy $1 bills, which I had fun wrapping in about 7 different layers and which he had fun opening.
